Grade 2

Geography

In Geography this term students will be learning about the following; pose geographical questions about familiar and unfamiliar places. Collect and record geographical data and information, for example, by observing, by interviewing, or from sources such as, photographs, plans, satellite images, storybooks and films. Represent data and the location of places and their features by constructing tables, plans and labelled maps. Students have been learning about the Continents and Oceans. They completed a booklet on identifying and labelling the continents and oceans.

English

In English this term we have been focusing on narratives. Students read ‘Bones the Sea Dog’ and ‘Where the Wild things are’ and retold the story using a storyboard. Also, gade 2B created their own story books and read them to the foundation class during D.E.A.R time.

Incursion

On the 1st May the Grade 2’s had an incursion called “Proud To Be Me”. It was an interactive performance celebrating everyone’s unique capabilities. Proud To Be Me encourages students to explore;

“Wise Old Oak, the world’s most ancient tree, invites you to meet his enchanting friends in the Super Happy Magic Forest! Fang is friendly, furry monster. The Tear-Away Toadstool teaches us to learn from our mistakes. A spirited Sloth shows us how important it is to be special and unique. Celebrate your individuality in this show all about friendship, diversity and acceptance. Discover the importance of friendship and be proud to be yourself.

Grade 2 Team
